Jagiellonia 3 – 2 Pogon Szczecin

What a Saturday afternoon at Chorten Arena! Jagiellonia showed why they're sitting second in the Ekstraklasa table with a pulsating 3-2 victory over Pogon Szczecin that had everything you could want in a football match.

The home side started like a house on fire, with K. Szmyt opening the scoring in the 11th minute to set the tone for an attacking masterclass. Jagiellonia's dominance was evident from the get-go, controlling 56% of possession and peppering the Pogon goal with shots. The visitors' keeper was kept busy early, facing wave after wave of attacks from a Jagiellonia side that looked hungry for goals.

Afimico Pululu doubled the advantage in the 32nd minute, showcasing the clinical finishing that has earned him his impressive 8.6 SAM rating this season. With 20 total shots compared to Pogon's 10, Jagiellonia looked in complete control heading toward halftime. But football has a funny way of changing quickly.

Just before the break, F. Cuic pulled one back for the visitors in the 44th minute, giving Pogon Szczecin a lifeline they desperately needed. The goal sparked the away side into action, and manager clearly wasn't happy with what he'd seen, making four substitutions at the 65-minute mark in a bold tactical reshuffle.

Those changes nearly paid off perfectly. M. Agger found the equalizer in the 83rd minute, sending the traveling fans wild and setting up a grandstand finish. With Pogon's goalkeeper making an incredible 11 saves throughout the match, it looked like the visitors might steal a point against the run of play.

But Jagiellonia had other ideas. In the 90th minute, center-back Bernardo Vital popped up with the winner, capping off what must have been a nerve-wracking finish for the home faithful. The goal was a testament to Jagiellonia's never-say-die attitude and their superior firepower throughout the match.

Looking at the SAM ratings, Bartłomiej Wdowik's exceptional 9.2 rating highlights just how dominant Jagiellonia were down the flanks, while Pululu's goal and overall performance justify his 8.6 season rating. For Pogon, goalkeeper Valentin Cojocaru's heroics between the sticks kept them in the game far longer than the stats suggested they should have been.

This victory keeps Jagiellonia firmly in the title race, maintaining their second-place position with 49 points after 32 matches. Meanwhile, Pogon Szczecin remain mid-table in 9th, though their fighting spirit in this match suggests better days could be ahead. With performances like this, Saturday afternoons in the Ekstraklasa don't get much better.
