Lechia Edge Thriller Despite Korona Fightback at Polsat Plus Arena

What a way to start the week! Lechia Gdansk treated their home faithful to a pulsating 4-2 victory over Korona Kielce on Monday night at the Polsat Plus Arena, in a match that had absolutely everything.

The drama began early when Aleksandar Ćirković thought he'd opened the scoring in the 9th minute, only to see his effort chalked off. The Serbian wouldn't be denied for long though, finding the net properly 10 minutes later to give Lechia the lead. The turning point came midway through the first half when Konstantinos Sotiriou's red card left Korona playing with 10 men, and Tomáš Bobček made them pay from the penalty spot two minutes later.

Lechia looked to be cruising when Rifet Kapič extended their lead to 3-0 in the 59th minute, his fourth goal of the season showcasing why he's been such a key player with his 8.9 SAM rating. But football rarely follows the script, and Korona showed tremendous character despite their numerical disadvantage.

The visitors staged a remarkable comeback attempt in the final 15 minutes. Pau Resta converted from the penalty spot in the 78th minute before adding a second goal just four minutes later, suddenly making it a nervy finish for the hosts. Just when it looked like Korona might complete an unlikely comeback, Dawid Kurminowski struck in the 90th minute to seal the points for Lechia.
